Kathy planned the details of her wedding at the Grandview down to the minutest detail, so excited to be sharing this special day with Bob she had been waiting for. And on the day of her wedding, it showed.
Kathy glowed in her curve-hugging mermaid gown as she walked across the Grandview ballroom on the arms of her teenage sons to “When I Fall In Love†by Natalie Cole. Bob couldn’t take his eyes off her. After the ceremony, it was a triumphant walk back down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun†by the Beatles.
With floral arrangements of red, orange and peach gerber daisies, mums, roses, lilies and hyperium berries, the ballroom reflected the last of autumn.
One of my favorite moments was watching Kathy dance with each of her sons to songs they had picked out just for her. Kyle danced with his mother to “Little Wonders†by Rob Thomas (Kathy is a HUGE Rob Thomas fan) and Ryan danced with her to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life†by Stevie Wonder. Kathy couldn’t have looked more proud in the arms of her tall, handsome sons.
Motown ruled the night. Kathy and her friends broke out some Supremes arm moves (vaguely reminiscent of the Macarena) for “Come See About Me†and guests boogied down to “25 Miles,†by Edwin Starr, one of my all-time favorite Motown songs.
The Grandview is ready for the holidays with Christmas trees and the first poinsettias of the season decorating their front hall. Our winter wonderland weddings are just around the corner!
