Spring has finally arrived! If not officially, she certainly visited on the day of Jenn and AJ’s wedding.
It was sixty degrees and barely sprinkling when we arrived at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston. The accents on the wedding cake matched the apple green bridesmaids gowns, the perfect color choice for a March wedding so close to St. Patrick’s Day…especially since Jenn and AJ met at an Irish festival.
I took a moment to capture the cake and centerpieces on my Flip camera. Instead of table numbers, the couple named each table after college football teams. Check out the sweetheart table in front of a the candle lit fireplace…
Personal Favor Idea: Instead of favors, Jenn and AJ made donations to the Rosemary D. Gruner Cancer Fund at Benedictine Hospital. This was an especially personal way of including AJ’s mother, as the fund was created in her honor after she passed away.
The Best Man Dan, AJ’s brother, had the wedding guests in stitches during his Toast with inside jokes about, “How To Survive A Week With AJ,” including tips on weekly visits to Happy Hour at Mariner’s Harbor and dinner at Stella’s or The Armadillo.
After dinner, the wedding guests really tore loose. Irish music ruled the night. AJ’s nieces changed into their costumes and Irish step danced to a lovely reel. Then the Irish got a bit more…hardcore…contemporary Irish rock by bands like The Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, and the crowd knew every word.
At the end of the night, Richie Matthews serenaded the bridesmaids with “Sweet Caroline,” a tradition in the family, and had the entire group chanting and dancing along with him. Turn to my Flip camera again and watch how he works the microphone for AJ and Jenn…
I certainly learned a few things that night and started our wedding season off with a BANG!
