It was a pleasure watching the love and happiness between Liz and Matt as they basked in the beauty of their day. After years of just missing each other, the couple had finally met. True love and fate took over from there. The groomsman, Mike, explained in his toast, that Liz had borne the stresses of selling a house, planning a wedding, recovery from surgery and car accidents with a “proud elegance.” That elegance carried over onto their day and kept a smile on all our faces.
THE DETAILS: The bridesmaids wore black dresses and carried bouquets of red roses. I loved the NY license plate Liz and Matt placed near their sweetheart table, “NOW WED.”
Liz’s little brother, the eight year old ring bearer, James, stole the show on the dance floor. He organized the ladies into a circle, insisting that one and then another dance with him. He begged us for a dance contest, so James led the guests in dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” When Liz declared him the winner of the dance contest, he grinned and pumped his fist in triumph.
The couple’s First Dance song, “Here and Now” by Luther Vandross, was a compromise choice. So later on they enjoyed a second First Dance to “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica and a symphonic orchestra…to honor Matt’s head-banging side.
It was a delight to fit in requests for the guests and wish the newlyweds an amazing honeymoon adventure on their cruise of Spain, Italy and France. Congratulations!
